HYDERABAD: Jeedimetla police solved the recent murder of a 32-year-old factory worker by arresting his wife and her paramour on Tuesday. The victim, P Prasad, 32, of Qutbullapur, was found dead near a graveyard at Ayodhya Nagar in Jeedimetla under suspicious circumstances on September 18. Based on the complaint lodged by the victim's father, Jeedimetla police had registered a suspicious death case and launched a probe.

Prasad was married to Rajyalakshmi, an employee of a mosquito coil company in Jeedimetla, and they have two daughters. During preliminary probe, Rajyalakshmi told police that Prasad left the house on September 17 night and did not return.

Meanwhile, the post-mortem report revealed that Prasad was strangled to death and sections of the case were altered to 302 (Murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). While analysing call details of Rajyalakshmi, police noticed that she had made several calls to her colleague Sekhar on the day of the murder.

Rajyalakshmi was taken into custody for interrogation. During questioning, she confessed to have murdered Prasad at their house on September 17 night with the help of Sekhar. "Rajyalakshmi and Sekhar strangled Prasad using a stole. We have recovered the stole from Rajyalakshmi's house and Sekhar was arrested from his house at IDA Jeedimetla. A cell phone was recovered from his possession," Jeedimetla inspector M Sudarshan said.

Rajyalakshmi told police that she has an affair with Sekhar since the past few years. She told police that since past few years Prasad became addicted to alcohol and he used to harass her every day. "Unable to put up with the daily harassment, she hatched a plan to eliminate Prasad and Sekhar agreed to help her," the inspector said.

After committing the murder, the duo dumped the body near the graveyard. The two were produced before court on Tuesday and they were remanded in judicial custody.
