Delhi police woman constable booked for abetment to suicide of husband

GURGAON: An engineer with a private firm committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train in Gurgaon on Tuesday night. Railway police have recovered a suicide note from the possession of the victim, which spoke of the alleged (physical and mental) torture by his wife, a policewoman with Delhi Police. A case of abetment to suicide has been lodged against the accused woman constable of Delhi police.
The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Dilbag Singh, a native of Bijhola village in Panipat district in Haryana. He was working in an operating department of an auto company in Rewari. Dilbag was married to Kavita, a constable in Delhi Police, 10 years ago. He was living in Basai enclave, Gurgaon with his wife and a 9-year-old son.
On Tuesday night, Railway police got an information that someone committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train near Basai-Dhankot on Delhi-Jaipur track. A police team reached on spot and took the body in custody.
"The victim had mentioned in the suicide note that he took this extreme step because of his wife, who used to torture him regularly. He also mentioned that his wife used to beat him regularly. She threatened him to book in dowry harassment case as she is a cop of Delhi police," said Surinder Singh, SHO, Railway police, Gurgaon.
After getting information, Jai Singh, father of the victim reached Railway police station and alleged that his son was tortured by his wife regularly.
On the statement of victim's father and suicide note, Railway police have lodged an FIR against Delhi police constable Kavita under section 306 of IPC.
"We are conducting raids and the accused woman will be behind bars soon," said SHO, Railway police.

this has not happened for the first time. every now and then men are committing suicide - NCRB data says 62000+ men committing suicide due to 498a and DV act, but law has given deaf ears to these stats. Even supreme court asked law commission to review and make changes to dowry act. Again ,when a mother and father has lost their son - will any one minister wake up and push for change where even supreme court could not succeeded??
