BANGALORE: A 25-year-old homemaker and mother of two children has been arrested for conniving with her paramour and getting her husband bumped off by floating a contract.
Mangala Kumar's paramour and relative, Kiran Kumar Nagaraju, 21, a final year student with Vivekananda Institute of Engineering, too landed in police custody. M Kumar, Mangala's husband, had opposed his wife's relationship with Kiran and threatened to divorce her if she continued with her affair.
"But Kiran was firm on continuing his affair with Mangala. The homemaker decided to kill her husband Kumar, who worked as an agent at the Jayanagar RTO office," DCP (South) H S Revanna said.
Mangala agreed to pay a supari of Rs 3 lakh to get her husband murdered. Kiran assigned the job to his friends. Mangala paid Rs 60,000 as advance. On November 11, Kumar left his Srinagar home around 9.30am to drop his two children to school. "It was Kumar's routine to drop the children. Mangala tipped off Kiran after Kumar left home. The assailants waylaid Kumar while he was riding back," police said.
Kiran's friends who executed the job — Anil Kumar (21) of Jaraganahalli, auto driver Keshava Kumar, Hanumantappa (27) and Nagesh Bhaktappa (22) — have been arrested.
