UK-based woman alleges rape, fraud
RAJKOT: A UK-based NRI woman, who stays in Odhav area ofAhmedabad, lodged a complaint of rape and fraud worth Rs 1.50 crore againstDineshPurohint, a resident of Gayatrinagar area in the city. Police have arrested Purohit.
The victim, in her complaint with A division police, alleged that Purohit had come in contact with her during his stay in London on a work permit visa between 2008 and 2012.
"She said that Purohit, who used to work as a priest in a temple, made friends with her husband and started visiting her house in London. He convinced her to perform some tantric rituals and asked her to come to Gujarat. When the victim came to Gujarat, he took her to different places in Ahmedabad, Mehsana and Rajkot where he allegedly took 45 lakh cash and jewellery worth Rs 1 crore from her. After this, Purohit allegedly raped her after rendering the victim unconscious by lacing her drink with intoxicants," said an official.
