Shruti braces up for a legal battle
Veteran actress Shruti, who was in the news recently for her wedlock with journalist-turned-film director Chandrachud seems to gearing up for a legal battle ahead. The actress, who got married under controversial circumstances, has landed herself in trouble when Chandrachud's first wife, Manjula, approached a Bangalore family court. The court has questioned the validity of Chandrachud's marriage to Shruti since Manjula and he are yet to be separated legally.
Manjula has filed a petition urging the family court to declare Chandrachud's marriage to Shruti as null and void. According to her, her husband's second marriage is in violation of Section 11 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, which makes it mandatory for any married couple to legally separate before entering into wedlock for the second time.
Shruti and Chandrachud got married on June 6 this year at a Kollur temple in coastal Karnataka which was shifted from their earlier venue following protests. Going by the present circumstances, looks like Shruthi is gearing up for a long drawn legal battle.
