Hubby, in-laws booked for dowry demand and aborting pregnancy

NAGPUR: On the complaint of a 27-year-old woman, Pachpaoli police have booked her husband and in-laws for allegedly demanding dowry and torturing her causing miscarriage of her two months of pregnancy.

Sonali Dhamankar, a homemaker, had married Vaishali Nagar resident, Amol two years ago. Amol owned a flour mill near his residence. Sonali claimed that after her marriage, Amol and her in-laws had been torturing her for dowry of Rs 2 lakh to set up a new business.

Sonali's mother-in-law Kusum, brother-in-law Shailesh and his wife Rakhi, were also booked for dowry and harassment.

Sonali claimed in her police complaint that Amol and her in-laws would thrash her badly that led to miscarriage. Sonali is currently staying at her parent's residence at Chitamani Nagar. Police said that the accused family members have been absconding.
