Nephew's wife killed Vivek Vihar businessman, staff; 4 arrested
NEW DELHI: In a sensational twist to the murder of industrialist Bajrang Lal Bokaria (62) and his three employees inside his Vivek Vihar house, one Mona Duggal (24)-the wife of Bokaria's nephew-and three other men were arrested on Wednesday. Police said the murder motive was robbery.
Additional CP (crime) Ravinder Yadav said that Mona had married Bokaria's nephew, Ajay, in September last year. But due to irrevocable differences with her husband, she was staying with her parents at Sunder Nagri, northeast Delhi since November. Mona was in need of money and her maternal uncle, Rajiv (25), suggested that they rob Bokaria since he was the wealthiest among all her relatives. Mona's brother Harjeet (22), a driver, willingly agreed. The three then roped in one Sanjay (24), Harjeet's friend, after promising him a huge sum.
According to Yadav, the four accused first went to Bokaria's residence on Saturday and conducted a recce of the place and surroundings. They knew that Bokaria and his wife were not at home at that time. They also knew that all their money and jewellery was in five almirahs in the master bedroom.
On Sunday, Mona and her associates returned to the house around 3.30pm. They first found servant Bhola Singh (30) inside the house. They overpowered him, gagged him and tied him up. After this, they ransacked the house and broke the almirahs in the master bedroom.
When Bokaria arrived half-an-hour later, Mona opened the door and let him in. "The other three immediately overpowered Bokaria and pinned him down. A few minutes later, Bokaria's driver Vinod Dubey (45) entered the house. He, too, was overpowered and tied down. While they were at it, a servant named Anand (18) came from the adjacent servants' quarter and ended up with a similar fate. Since all the victims knew Mona, all were murdered. While Bokaria was strangled, the others had their throats slit," added Yadav.
Cops have recovered some jewellery from Mona, but jewellery and cash worth over Rs 2.2 crore is still missing from the house. SI Ritesh Kumar later recovered three blood-stained knives from the crime spot.
Police received information about a servant of Bokaria's relative who had come to collect duplicate car keys from Bokaria. A portrait of the woman was made and it matched with Mona's photo.
