TIRUVANNAMALAI: Tiruvannamalai district judge K Naganathan has been suspended on disciplinary grounds in Tamil Nadu. Additional district judge, Tirupur, C Padmanabhan has been transferred and posted in the vacant position.

Naganathan had earlier served as the sales tax appellate tribunal chairman in Chennai and was transferred and posted as the district judge in Tiruvannamalai in April this year.

In a earlier case, judicial magistrate S Thangaraj (31) of a fast track court in Coonoor in the Nilgiris district was arrested in Tirupur district in June. Thangaraj promised to marry a sub-inspectorand had a relationship with her for one-and-a-half years. But Thangaraj married another woman and got his marriage registered.

The Madras high court had slammed the police and initiated suo motu contempt proceedings against the woman superintendent of police and four others for blatant misuse of powers and showing scant regard and disrespect to the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court.
