AKOLA: In a rare judgment in an adultery case, a man from Warkhed in BarshiTaklitaluka of Akola district was sentenced to one year jail for keeping extra martial relations with a woman from the same village. Delivering the verdict on Friday afternoon, additional session judge SGSawdekar also imposed a fine of Rs1000 on the accused.

Aniruddha Chele alias Anesh was accused of having illicit relationship with Mukta, wife of a shepherd Bandu Yevle. The two were caught by Yevle in a compromising position at his home on July 7, 2012. Anesh has been held guilty and sentenced to one year jail term for keeping extra martial relations with a married woman under section 497 of Indian Penal Code 1860.

Yevle lodged a police complaint and offence was registered against Chele and three others. Kavita, Chele's wife, also deposed before the court.

Government pleader Mangla Pande pleaded for the prosecution. The judge, however, acquitted the other three accused for want of strong evidence.
