JAIPUR: A man beat his 32-year-old wife to death after he was irked by a case of dowry harassment lodged by the victim against him in Sikar's Khatushyam Ji area. The man hit his woman repeatedly with an iron pipe and dumped the body into a water tank. Later, he escaped from the house and is on the run.
Khatushyam Ji SHO Hemraj Singh said the victim, Krishna Devi, had accused her husband Puran Mal Chauhan of harassing her for dowry and was living separately from him for the past couple of years. The case was under trial in a court.
"Puran Mal brought the woman to his village Govati near Khatushyam Ji four days ago on the pretext that he wanted to discuss with her about the dowry case. He told her that he wanted to reach a compromise. The woman agreed and came to stay at his house for a few days," the officer said.
She was washing clothes on Tuesday morning when Puran Mal suddenly hit her with an iron pipe.
"He hit her several times and then pushed her body into the nearby tank. It was a planned crime as he had sent their four children out of the house on various pretexts before committing the murder," the officer said.
When the children came home and found the woman in the water tank, they raised an alarm. She was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
