Mom, paramour held for minor's molestation
MUMBAI: A Nalasopara woman and her paramour have been arrested on Monday for the alleged molestation of her 12-year-old daughter.
The victim, a Class VIII student, said in her complaint that she was molested by her mother's paramour, Naresh Chopde, since July. The girl said that she had complained to her mother but the latter did not take her seriously. She alleged that Chopde and her mother engaged in sexual activities in the presence of her and her younger sister. Chopde allegedly molested her on several occasions when she was alone at home.
The victim's father stays in Kolkata and visits the family frequently. When the girl tried to complain to her father, her mother threatened her. The girl then confided in her uncle, who helped her file a police complaint. The police have arrested Naresh and the girl's mother under sections 354 (molestation), 323 (hurt), 506 (threats) of the Indian Penal Code and also sections of the Prevention of Children Sexual Offences Act.
